Governance and Freedom – 1

Democracy and Power is aware that all political organizations are a product of compromise and all have been altered by the power of politics.  No political organization has achieved optimum safeguards for personal freedom.

1.  Protecting People and their property.

“A wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government.”  -Thomas Jefferson declared in his first inaugural address in 1801

Thus far in world history, personal freedom best prevails when governing systems provide predictable, universal and consistent rules of law, which protect personal freedom and the products and rewards of a person’s labor and intellect – their private possessions.
